Why is this restaurant called "Cafe Reno" if it isn't themed around gambling?

So a few of you have noticed that we're based in Guelph Ontario, and we're not themed remotely around gambling, and you've asked why we're called Cafe Reno?

It's funny you should ask that. You see, there are lots of companies in the world. When the time comes to name yours, often your first, second, maybe even your third choice is taken. That's where we start our story now.

The guy who runs Cafe Reno is named Nick McDonald.

Of course, our first choice would be calling the place "McDonalds", but some burger joint out of California already took it. Bad luck! We looked into it, and they took McCafe too! (Greedy!)

As it happens, Nick's Cafe is also taken! That sews up the easy choices, so now we have to get creative.

Well, Nick happens to look like a character from Reno 911. If you see him, then you see the logo, you'll understand. So, he's gotten the nickname(no pun intended) Reno.

So we threw the phrase "Cafe Reno" into the machine and crossed our fingers...

And it turns out the name was free!

But do us a favour: If anyone asks, it's an ancient family secret.
